What is Sea Parcel?
Sea parcel is a practical and economical shipping option offered by Prestige for smaller consignments under 1CBM. This means you can ship as few as a couple of cartons at a time without needing to pay hefty charges.
Some freight providers will only accept a minimum of 1CBM, so sea parcel can be a far more economical option for lower-volume shipments.
It is commonly used for lower-volume cartons, stock top-ups, and non-urgent commercial shipments moving from China to New Zealand.
How Sea Parcel Shipments Are Usually Handled
For smaller sea parcel shipments, we generally recommend that the factory or supplier sends the goods to our designated warehouse first. This helps simplify handling, consolidation, and onward delivery.
Once received, the shipment can be prepared for sea parcel forwarding to New Zealand, with delivery arranged either to your door or for depot collection depending on the service.
Local delivery is either carried out by the freight agent or NZ Post.

Transit and Delivery
Transit and delivery Sea parcel is generally chosen for cost savings rather than speed. Transit times will depend on origin, consolidation timing, customs clearance, and final delivery arrangements within New Zealand.
Delivery can be arranged nationwide across New Zealand, including both the North Island and South Island, as well as offshore locations such as Waiheke Island and Stewart Island. This includes urban, regional and rural delivery areas, depending on the service selected.
As a general guide, sea parcel shipments are often in the 20-45 day range.
Depending on the service and destination, delivery may be arranged to your door or for depot pickup.
Minimum Shipment Note
For clients not using Prestige Sourcing’s sourcing services, a minimum shipment weight of 50kg applies to sea parcel bookings.
For shipments below 50kg, a $15 USD administration fee will apply to cover handling and processing.
