What is Express Courier?
Express courier provides a door-to-door parcel service for urgent, smaller shipments. Unlike standard air freight, dedicated carrier networks such as DHL, FedEx, UPS and EMS manage pickup, air transport, customs processing and final delivery as one service.
In practice, importers use express courier when speed and simplicity matter more than freight cost.
How Express Courier Shipments Are Usually Handled
First, the courier collects the goods from the supplier or factory, or the supplier delivers them to the relevant handling point.
Prestige Sourcing can coordinate express courier shipments from major export centres such as Yiwu, Shanghai, Ningbo, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The shipment will usually enter New Zealand through Auckland before moving to its final destination.
After arrival, the courier can deliver the shipment to a depot, warehouse, business or other physical address, depending on the selected service.
When Express Courier Makes Sense
Express courier is usually the right fit when:
- The shipment is small and urgent
- You are moving samples, documents, or spare parts
- Speed matters more than freight cost
- The cargo is not large enough to justify standard air freight
- You want a simple fully managed delivery process
- Fully door-to-door handling is preferred

Transit and Delivery
Express courier is generally the fastest option for low-volume cargo moving from China to New Zealand. However, timing depends on the origin, carrier network, customs processing and final delivery location.
As a general guide, express courier shipments often take around 3-5 days, depending on the service level and destination.
Couriers can deliver across the North Island and South Island, including major cities, regional areas and many rural locations, depending on the selected service.
Delivery Coverage
Couriers can deliver to many locations across New Zealand, including the North Island, South Island and some offshore destinations, depending on the selected service.
For example, coverage can include Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and many regional towns.
Finally, couriers deliver most shipments to physical addresses. Some postal services, including NZ Post or EMS, may also deliver to PO Boxes where the selected method allows it.
