Compare Shipping Methods From China to Australia
Sea freight
LCL sea freight lets you share container space with other shipments. Full container shipping (FCL) gives your goods their own container. Both suit orders where price matters more than speed.
Sea parcel
Sea Parcel can suit smaller cartons that are not urgent. We check your goods, carton measurements and postcode before confirming the service.
Air freight
Air freight suits urgent or valuable goods when sea shipping would take too long.
Express courier
Express courier carries small urgent parcels, samples and documents through a courier network.
Door-to-door freight
Door-to-door freight helps arrange the journey to your Australian address using the agreed sea, air, parcel or courier service.
Shipping dates depend on getting the goods ready in China, the ship or flight route, Australian customs and biosecurity checks, and local delivery.
If you know the carton measurements, the freight volume calculator can estimate the space your goods take up. To get started, tell us what you are shipping, the supplier’s city and your Australian postcode.

Sea Freight (LCL & FCL)
Sea freight usually costs less for larger or heavier orders when you can allow more time for shipping.
- LCL sea freight shares container space and suits moderate carton or pallet volumes.
- FCL sea freight provides a dedicated container for larger loads.
- Goods may arrive through Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Fremantle or Adelaide, depending on the sea route and delivery address.
Shipping dates depend on handling in China, the route, customs and biosecurity checks, and local delivery. We can compare full container shipping with LCL shared-container shipping for your goods and delivery postcode. Send us the shipment details to find out which offers better value.
Air Freight
Air freight from China to Australia suits urgent inventory, higher-value goods and commercial shipments that need a faster service than sea freight.
- Air freight commonly arrives through Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth.
- The price can use actual weight or a weight calculated from package size, called volumetric weight.
- Tell us about batteries, dangerous goods or restricted products before booking.
- Airport, depot and final-address delivery options depend on the selected service.
Timing varies with airline capacity, routing, customs and biosecurity clearance, and final postcode.
Sea Parcel Service
Sea Parcel groups smaller cartons for sea shipping. It can suit non-urgent orders that meet the service’s size and packing rules.
- For cartons and smaller stock orders.
- We check the goods, packed size, weight and postcode before booking.
- We check whether you can collect from a depot or have delivery to your address.
Send the carton details so we can check the minimum charge and handling requirements. Allow time for grouping parcels, the sea journey, Australian checks and local delivery.
Express Courier
Express courier suits small urgent shipments such as samples, documents and spare parts.
- Courier options may include DHL, FedEx, UPS and EMS.
- Pickup, tracking, customs processing and final delivery are managed under one shipment.
- Tell us what is inside, including batteries. Parcel size and delivery address also affect which service you can use.
- Commercial couriers usually require a physical delivery address.
Final timing depends on carrier routing, border clearance and destination coverage.

China to Australia Freight FAQs
What does a freight forwarder from China to Australia do?
Prestige Sourcing coordinates the movement of goods from your supplier in China to Australia. This can include supplier pickup, warehouse receiving, grouping shipments, export documentation, sea or air freight, customs-clearance coordination and final delivery. We explain the services included in your quote, based on the shipping method, destination and agreed purchase terms.
What is the cheapest way to ship from China to Australia?
The cheapest option is usually sea freight, especially for larger or heavier commercial shipments. If your goods do not fill a container, LCL sea freight lets you pay for space in a shared container.
For larger shipments, FCL sea freight can provide the lowest cost per unit. For eligible smaller carton-based shipments, our China to Australia sea parcel service may also be suitable when timing is flexible.
Send us the carton dimensions, weight, pickup city and Australian delivery postcode so we can compare the suitable options.
What is the fastest way to ship from China to Australia?
The fastest option is usually express courier for samples, documents, spare parts and small parcels.
For urgent commercial cargo that is too large or costly for courier, air freight from China to Australia is usually the better option. It can suit stock replenishment, higher-value goods and time-sensitive shipments.
Can I ship less than 50kg?
Send your goods details so we can check a suitable service. A 15 USD administration fee applies to shipments under 50kg if you are not sourcing through Prestige Sourcing. The fee applies to all shipping methods.
What do you need to prepare a freight quote?
Start with your name, email, destination and the type of goods. If available, include the collection city, quantity, weight, packed dimensions and purchase terms. A packing list or supplier documents can help us assess your shipment.
China to Australia Collection, Customs and Delivery FAQs
Can you collect goods from my supplier in China?
Pickup depends on your supplier’s location. For most shipments under 100kg, you or your supplier will need to arrange delivery to the nominated warehouse in China. Send the supplier address, packed weight and measurements so we can confirm the collection or warehouse-delivery arrangements and costs.
Do I need to pay GST, duty or import charges in Australia?
GST is payable on taxable importations into Australia. Customs duty, import processing charges and biosecurity fees may also apply, depending on the goods, shipment value and clearance requirements.
Some products require permits, treatment, inspection or other biosecurity steps. Send us the product and packaging details so we can help clarify customs arrangements before shipping. The Australian Border Force guidance on import charges and the Department of Agriculture guidance explain the official requirements. We coordinate customs clearance with the broker handling your shipment and let you know what information or documents are required.
Can you ship door-to-door from China to Australia?
Yes. Depending on the shipment type and delivery postcode, we can help arrange door-to-door freight from the supplier or warehouse in China to the delivery address in Australia. Available options can include sea freight, air freight, courier or parcel services.
Who is responsible for the information declared to Customs?
We coordinate the customs-clearance process with the broker handling your shipment and let you know what information is required. You are responsible for making sure the factual information you or your supplier provide about the goods is accurate and complete, including the product description, quantity, value, contents/materials and any supporting documents. We’ll flag obvious issues where we can, but we can’t verify information that has not been disclosed or has been provided incorrectly. Customs or other authorities may also request supporting evidence or inspect the shipment.
