FAQs
Explore some of our most commonly asked questions below.
If you don’t find what you are looking for, you are welcome to contact us with your specific requirements.
At Prestige Sourcing Group, we act as your eyes, ears, and hands on the ground in China, helping businesses with sourcing, supplier coordination, quality control, freight, warehousing, and supply chain support.
How do your sourcing fees work?
We offer flexible engagement models depending on your order volume, project scope, and how involved you want to be.
Our main models include:
Client-Managed – you manage the supplier relationship directly, while we provide on-the-ground support in China such as supplier communication, quality checks, factory visits, and logistics coordination.
PSG-Managed – you provide the product brief or sourcing requirements, and we manage the process from supplier sourcing and vetting through to production follow-up, quality control, shipment readiness, and delivery coordination.
Hybrid – a customised approach combining elements of both models, ideal for businesses that want to stay involved in some parts of the process while using our local support where needed.
Fees may be structured as a fixed project fee, hourly rate, percentage of order value, commission, or agreed scope of work depending on the project.
Freight can be quoted separately or included depending on the engagement model and shipment requirements.
For smaller projects, one-off tasks, or businesses needing focused advice rather than full project management, hourly consulting or ad-hoc support may be more suitable.
Is there a minimum order value for sourcing or supply projects?
For sourcing and supply projects, our usual minimum is around USD $10,000 / NZD $15,000 net monthly order value. This can vary depending on the product, workload, and current capacity.
Why do you have a minimum order value?
This question often comes from new eCommerce sellers and importers.
Sourcing from China takes experience, coordination, and time. Many new importers do not realise how much work is involved, from supplier checks and factory communication to samples, quality control, freight planning, and documentation.
Our minimum order value helps ensure we can dedicate the right level of time and attention to each project. A single USD $10,000 order is usually far more efficient to manage properly than ten separate USD $1,000 orders.
If your order is below our usual minimum, we may still be able to help through paid consulting, freight support, or a smaller one-off service, depending on the situation.
Are there any products you do not supply?
We do not source or supply counterfeit, copyright-infringing, or otherwise illegal products.
In addition, you as the importer or seller are responsible for ensuring that all goods comply with the laws and import regulations of your respective country or region. It is your responsibility to understand which products may be restricted or prohibited under local policies.
Can you supply and ship goods worldwide?
We can supply and ship goods to any country or region that is not subject to trade restrictions or sanctions under the World Trade Organization (WTO), United Nations (UN), or applicable international laws.
Buyers are responsible for ensuring that their destination country or region is not under any active trade embargo or restriction. Prestige Sourcing reserves the right to decline orders or shipments that would violate international trade or export compliance regulations.
Do you only source within Guangdong?
No, we can help source products from anywhere in China (including Guangdong).
While projects in Guangdong Province often involve lower travel and inspection costs due to our proximity, we also work closely with trusted partners and factory networks across China. This allows us to manage sourcing projects efficiently nationwide, regardless of location.
Can I use your freight service without using your sourcing service?
Yes, we offer freight services to all customers.
Sourcing clients are given preferential rates and priority handling, as freight is integrated with our end-to-end service model.
Non-sourcing customers are also welcome to request freight quotes, though minimum shipment volumes may apply depending on destination and service type.
Do you ship from China to New Zealand and Australia?
Yes, we regularly handle freight to both New Zealand and Australia, including shipments for businesses, eCommerce sellers, and importers.
Common destinations include Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Tauranga, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and other main centres. Delivery to regional or rural addresses may also be available depending on the freight method and final address.
We can also assist with international freight to other countries depending on the goods, route, volume, and service required.
What freight options do you offer?
We can help arrange several freight options from China, including:
- Sea freight
- LCL sea freight
- FCL container shipping
- Air freight
- Courier or express shipping
- Sea parcel or small shipment services
- Door-to-door freight
- Warehouse consolidation
- Amazon FBA preparation and delivery support
The best method depends on the shipment size, weight, urgency, destination, product type, and budget. For example, courier may suit samples or urgent parcels, while LCL or FCL sea freight is usually better for larger commercial shipments.
Can you collect goods from my supplier in China?
Yes. We can help arrange collection from your supplier, factory, trading company, or warehouse in China.
This is commonly used when a supplier can only quote ex-factory, EXW, or domestic delivery terms. We can coordinate pickup, warehouse receiving, consolidation, export handling, and international freight depending on the shipment.
To arrange this, we usually need the supplier contact details, pickup address, carton details, product information, and any relevant invoice or packing list.
Can you consolidate goods from multiple suppliers?
Yes. We can help consolidate goods from multiple suppliers in China into one shipment where practical.
This can be useful if you are buying from several factories, Alibaba suppliers, or other Chinese vendors. Consolidation may help reduce duplicated freight and customs charges, simplify export handling, and make the shipment easier to manage.
Before consolidation, we need to check the product types, carton sizes, supplier locations, timing, and destination. Some goods may not be suitable to combine due to size, risk, customs requirements, or handling restrictions.
Can you help us store goods in China?
Yes. Short-term storage in China can be arranged where required.
This is usually used for consolidation, waiting for other supplier goods to arrive, preparing a shipment, checking cartons, or holding goods before dispatch. Longer-term warehousing may also be possible depending on the product type, volume, and storage requirements.
Storage fees may apply depending on the warehouse, shipment size, storage period, and any handling work required.
Do freight prices fluctuate?
Yes. Freight prices can change due to fuel costs, exchange rates, airline or shipping line capacity, port congestion, peak season demand, customs policy changes, surcharges, and final delivery requirements.
Any freight estimate should be treated as indicative until the shipment details are confirmed and the booking is made.
For the most accurate quote, we need the final carton dimensions, gross weight, product details, supplier location, destination address, and preferred shipping method.
Are NZ Customs, GST, duties, or MPI charges included in your freight quote?
Usually, no. Unless clearly stated, our freight quotes do not include government charges such as GST, import duty, NZ Customs charges, MPI charges, quarantine inspection fees, biosecurity charges, or other destination government fees.
Our quote may include freight, pickup, export handling, port or airline charges, customs brokerage service fees, and delivery depending on the service quoted. However, this is separate from charges billed or assessed by Customs, MPI, or other government agencies.
For New Zealand imports, Customs and MPI charges are usually assessed based on the shipment value, freight, insurance, product type, and import requirements. We can help explain the process, but final charges are determined by the relevant authority.
What information do you need for a freight quote?
To quote accurately, we usually need:
- Pickup city or supplier address in China
- Delivery country and full destination address
- INCOTERMS
- Whether the Supplier is using there own export license
- Product name and product type
- HSCODE of each item
- Number of cartons
- Carton dimensions
- Gross weight
- Total shipment value
- Whether the goods are branded, battery products, liquids, powders, magnets, wood, food-related, restricted, or fragile
- Preferred method, such as sea freight, air freight, courier, or door-to-door
- Whether you need consolidation, inspection, repacking, labelling, or warehousing
If you do not have all details yet, we may still be able to give a rough estimate, but the final price can only be confirmed once the shipment details are clear.
Can you help if we are new to eCommerce?
Yes, but our full sourcing and supply services are usually better suited to businesses with an active budget, existing product direction, or plans to order at commercial volume. If you are just starting out, hourly consulting may be a better fit before committing to sourcing, manufacturing, or freight support.
Do you assist with dropshipping?
We source direct in China, so we don’t operate as a dropshipping service.
If you are an established dropshipper looking to transition toward holding inventory or running store-and-ship operations from China, we can assist through our trusted factory and logistics partners.
For those just starting out, it’s best to focus on building a proven business model before considering sourcing.
Can you help eCommerce sellers transition from dropshipping to holding stock?
Yes. We can help eCommerce sellers move from basic dropshipping or supplier-fulfilled orders to a more reliable stock-holding model, assuming minimum monthly order volumes or project requirements are met.
This may include sourcing better suppliers, arranging samples, negotiating bulk pricing, coordinating production, checking goods, consolidating shipments, arranging freight, and helping prepare products for storage, local fulfilment, or Amazon FBA.
Holding stock can improve delivery times, product control, branding, and customer experience, but it also requires more planning around cash flow, order volume, storage, and inventory risk. For many sellers, the best approach is to start with a small commercial batch before committing to larger orders.
Can you ship goods to Amazon FBA?
Yes, we can ship directly to Amazon FBA warehouses worldwide – this includes using Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) shipping options.
Can you print and apply product labels, barcodes, carton labels, or FNSKU labels?
Yes. We can help arrange printing and application of product labels, barcodes, carton labels, shipping marks, and Amazon FBA FNSKU labels where required.
In many cases, it is better for the supplier or factory to apply labels during production or packing, especially for product labels, packaging labels, and barcodes. If goods are being consolidated, repacked, inspected, or prepared for Amazon FBA, we can also help coordinate label application through our warehouse or service partners.
For Amazon FBA, clients should provide the correct FNSKU labels, carton labels, and Amazon shipment requirements before the goods are packed. Labelling mistakes can cause delays, extra charges, or receiving issues at Amazon, so final label files and instructions need to be confirmed clearly before dispatch.
